In 2025, the Universidade São Francisco (USF) celebrates 30 years of continuous work in its Undergraduate Research Program, solidifying its position as one of the pillars of academic education and institutional scientific production. Over these three decades, IC at USF has become a bridge between teaching and research, bringing together students and professors in projects that positively impact society.
In the last four years, 838 research projects were developed under the guidance of over a hundred professors linked to undergraduate programs and the university's Stricto Sensu graduate programs. The projects involved students from 38 courses across all USF campuses, including distance learning and hybrid modalities, demonstrating the breadth and diversity in different dimensions of education.
USF's Undergraduate Research Program is coordinated by the Academic Research Center and supported by institutional grants, such as PROBAICITExt/USF, and external funding agencies, including CNPq, through programs like PIBIC and PIBITI. Focusing on strategic areas aligned with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, the projects explore themes such as health and well-being, education, citizenship, sustainability, environment, technology, innovation, and other socially relevant fields.
The results of these studies not only contribute to students' critical development but also generate significant scientific output, including articles, book chapters, and presentations at national and international conferences. Many of these students stand out with awards at scientific events, earning recognition for their contributions in areas such as biotechnology, education, public health, and engineering, among others.
Every year, the university hosts the Undergraduate Research Symposium, an event that brings together the academic community for an intense program of presentations, workshops, lectures, and debates. It is a privileged space for exchanging experiences between novice and experienced researchers, strengthening the university's scientific culture. The abstracts of the presented projects are published in the conference proceedings e-books, available online and free of charge.
